INSPIRIT AND FRANCESCA

Dear friends,

I’m at Francesca’s home. I haven’t written before because lately I have been very busy.

Last Wednesday Francesca told me that the next day we were to leave for Bologna. I was excited.

At 6:00 a.m.  I woke up, I wore a very warm sweater and my fabulous scarf and at 6:30 a.m. we were ready. Francesca’s father drove us to Brindisi, a great city with a wonderful  ancient town centre, and then we arrived at the airport  “Aereoporto del Salento”. It isn’t very big but  when I entered I felt at my ease because now I feel an Italian citizen from Mesagne.

 

 

After the check-in we waited for the gate opening. The queue was long and endless. Finally Francesca, her mother, her aunt and I climbed on the plane. The scenery was beautiful, I saw the clouds and some important cities and the flight attendants were kind.

We arrived at 9:30 a.m. and we soon met Francesca’s cousin, Maia, and her mother, Simonetta, who were waiting for us.

Maia loves me, she is a lovely girl. She’s 8 and is very intelligent.

After that we saw a statue of an interesting man. Francesca told me it was the statue of Guglielmo Marconi, an important Italian inventor and politician who was born on 25th April 1874. He is world famous because he invented the radiotelegraph.

Then we went shopping and we watched a famous Italian winery. Finally we went to Maia’s house, in Brudrio, a big city next to Bologna.

Her house is big and fantastic. We  ate  a typical local dish: pasta with yellow pumpkin.

At 4:30 p.m. we went to “Castel Guelfo” or “ The Styles Outlets “.





We entered in a strange shop: in the hall there were strange red boxes that looked like the ecological toilets or the red English telefone boxes. I don’t know exactly their function but I went into one of them and I asked Francesca to take a picture of me while I was leaning out of the small window. Very funny!!!!

Next we went to Lindt store, a famous Italian shop which sells a lot of chocolate and delicious ice cream. It is amazing. After that we returned home and we had dinner Maia and Francesca made a small but wonderful bed for me. Maia also gave me her favorite book, ADORABLE.

 

 

On Friday morning we went to the park and we saw funny human shapes representing two newlyweds. Everyone could hide behind them and pretend to be the bride or the bridegroom. I pretended to be the bridegroom.

Unfortunately yesterday we returned home in Mesagne and I met my old friend.
